Have you been wanting to keep an artist’s journal, but don’t know where to start? As you prepare to venture out sketching wildlife, cultivate the attitude of seeking. This attitude is as necessary as a notebook and pencil. Sometimes my searches are as simple as finding a blooming wildflower; other times they become a genuine challenge like finding a river otter. Occasionally I find what I was looking for, but usually I find something quite different and more wonderful than I could have imagined.
Start your explorations with the wild areas near your home. Capture each season rather than let it fly by. Track periods of change; record them in your journal.
