Description

In this video workshop, join artist Gigi Chen as she demonstrates the power of color by painting the same scene twice with a different color palette! You’ll start by learning how to transfer a drawing from your sketchbook without ripping it out, as well as how to make two identical line drawings. Then follow along with Gigi as she paints a cozy interior scene in a warm color palette, sharing tips and tricks for using watercolor pencils and pan watercolors together along the way. You’ll learn the strengths and limitations of your materials and which color is perfect for bridging the gap between warm and cool. Finally, you’ll finish by painting the same scene again in a cool color palette, discovering how much the mood of the piece changes just by adjusting the colors!

In this video, you’ll:

  • Get to know your watercolor pencils by making swatches
  • Use angular brushstrokes to paint shadows
  • Create unique textures and effects
  • Let your materials guide your art
