Description
Benefit from Richard McKinley’s years of experience painting pastels en plein air!
He’ll teach you how to find success while working through the challenges of working on location. Painting alla prima (all in one sitting) presents unique opportunities to develop your painting materials, supplies, and process.
Richard will teach you his process, which begins with thumbnail sketches to establish shapes and values. You’ll learn how to block in colors using loose application, then “break it” – soften and blur the edges of your color blocks using counterpoint smudging while Richard explains the importance of this step. Next, “make it:” develop your painting and define key elements. Finally, add in key accents to move the viewer’s eye through your work.
