Learn Figure Drawing Essentials for Anatomy & Form

Learn how to turn simple shapes and volumes into the more complex forms of the human figure with these drawing techniques from Brent Eviston. Follow along with this collection of drawing lessons each focused on a different part of the human anatomy, and gain a firm understanding of how the body is constructed. From hands and feet to contours of the body, by the end of this video you’ll be able to draw a basic figure with expression and accuracy.

As you follow along with Brent's in-depth instruction, you'll start with a sepia-colored pencil and reference photos to create volume with cross-contour lines on basic shapes like ovals and cylinders. Then take what you’ve learned and apply it to the figure, drawing the legs, torso, arms, and head in a variety of poses. You'll finish up by completing a basic figure drawing dtep by step to combine all that you’ve learned.

Add these figure drawing skills to your artist's toolbox:

  • Renew your observation skills for improved figure drawing results
  • Employ anatomical landmarks to create accurate proportions
  • Combine shape, volume, and line to draw a basic figure
