Description
The figure is a timeless subject and has been challenging artists for thousands of years. Figure Drawing Essentials lays the foundation for masterful figure drawing by introducing multiple methods for approaching the subject and how to improvise with these tools for maximum effect. We will start by exploring 3 distinct gesture processes and learning how to to use them together to get your drawing started off right. From this, we introduce a series of measuring tools before demonstrating how they can be folded into the gesture process. Building on these tools, we examine the most important transition an artist makes: transitioning from drawing flat shapes to drawing in three dimensions. This course teaches you how to create dynamic figure drawings that exist in deep space through the use of simple geometric forms. Finally, light and shadow are added to the process to bring your drawings to powerful conclusions. Throughout this course, we will also explore the mindset of the artist and how this mindset impacts the drawing process.

Student Testimonials:
I really appreciated how the course was presented, and that at each stage the emphasis was placed on the basics in order to achieve a believable drawing. This step by step process helps take the mystery out of creating a figure drawing and create a sense that I could do that too. Provided I practice, of course. Thanks… ~ Christine S.
I think this course was outstanding. The teacher was very clear in his explanations and expectations. His examples were very enlightening. The resources and assignments were geared very well to allowing students to reach course objectives. The organization and expertise the teacher demonstrated in teaching as well as drawing were tremendously motivating. This is the best on-line course that I have taken. ~ Shirley A.

Without the references, the class doesn’t function. Can you please refund me and let me know when you get your site working. I also purchased his previous course, which I can no longer access. Can you find another way of getting me the course? To the instructor, Brent – you’re a great instructor – especially in the prior course where you went piece by piece through the entire figure and then put it all together! If you have another platform where I can access your courses, please let me know. Thanks!

How do I access the Resources portion of this course? I can’t find it.
Also, I can’t seem to access your prior course, which I purchased, and really enjoyed!
This website is really difficult to navigate in general and has a ton of quirks. It’s not the fault of the instructor, who is really good, but just wish this site was as good as its content.

Hello! I’m sorry for the challenging experience with the references for Brent’s courses. We’ve recently changed platforms for our videos and courses, and there are still some lingering issues with these larger courses. We’re working quickly to get them all updated properly and to ensure the references are included.
