The Language of Energy in Art

Quick Overview

Learn how to better express your art with your memories, experiences, imagination and your heart.

To paint what you see is just a recording of the facts. Art demands more from you: your memories, your experiences, your imagination, and your heart. The Language of Energy in Art - Finding Your Vision will help you express more in your art than just recording the facts.

Author, Charlotte Wharton presents a few renaissance artists who used or discovered the principles and theories that constitute the language today. The language is systematically laid out for you and accompanied with black and white illustrations by Charlotte. This book offers insight into the various components of color and color charts. An introduction to the Munsell Color System highlights its unique complements, discords, and psychological effects, which heighted the impact of any painting.

Charlotte takes you through various genres of painting: the landscape and atmospheric principles, the figure in the landscape, the interpretive portrait, and the figure in the interior. Galleries for each genre present Charlotte’s work along with descriptions explaining each painting’s application of the language. With the information presented within these pages, let the information guide you in finding or honing your unique vision, your voice, and your knowledge of composing for the fullest of expression.

A Word from the Author
“My self-portrait remains unfinished. My journey, especially my creative journey, is not yet completed. As I experience life, I’m changing, growing, and learning. This is reflected in my work. Both my life and art are a process that requires my attention, understanding, truth, and vision. In addition, each work of art - each painting - requires its own sentiment of expression gleaned from my sense of nature at the moment of inspiration. My artistic challenge then is to remain unfinished, uncompleted, and open to new ways of seeing and understanding, so that I might aspire always to the best of what is yet to come.” -Charlotte Wharton
