Details

You’ll love this issue of Southwest Art if:

  • You love the black and white imagery of graphite artworks.
  • You love artistic interpretations of the landscape and exploring how diverse artists interpret similar subject matter.
  • You love traditional oil painting techniques and artworks.

In the May 2016 issue of Southwest Art we celebrate our 45th anniversary with a look back at art trends, events, and changes in the magazine with a timeline of Southwest Art covers through the years. In this issue you’ll also meet landscape painters John Encinias and Randall Sexton, who hail from Colorado and California, respectively, and Texas artist Cindy Long, who captures the traditional western look in exquisite graphite and charcoal drawings.

Also in this issue, we look at a small sampling of the works accepted into the 25th annual Oil Painters of America National Juried Exhibition and discover the inspiration behind each piece, and we survey some of the top gallery shows and auctions throughout the West.
